What the LA Editors Wore to the 2014 Emmy Awards
Last night, we attended the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards and the Governors Ball after-party. Red carpets, bright lights, and an inevitable Jon Hamm spotting meant that we needed to look our best for the big night. We enlisted the help of Glamsquad to work their magic on our hair (we both opted for The Weekender!) and lucky for us, they smoothed, curled, and primped all from the comfort of our own offices.
As for our looks, I opted for a more summery vibe, with a silk blue and white dress, while Stephanie went glam with her mirror-belted sheath. See below for more outfit details!

Behind-the-Scenes: Prepping for the Emmy Awards

Two of our LA Editors attended the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards last night, catching a firsthand glimpse of the action on the red carpet and at the ceremony. How did they prep for the star-studded event? See below:

My coworker, Karen Levy, lent me this beautiful color-blocked Geren Ford dress (the lightweight silk made it easy to jump from the Emmy Awards to the various after-parties). I started prepping the day before, with a sleek blowout at Dry Bar. The day of, I refreshed my ‘do with a curling iron and did my own makeup, deciding on a bold fuchsia lip to offset my dark ensemble. A gray Target clutch, black Zara heels and simple rose gold bangles completed my look.” — Janelle Grodsky, Associate Editor, LA Office

"I borrowed a pale pink asymmetrical dress by Camilla and Marc and accessorized with my own Jimmy Choo heels, J. Crew clutch and House of Harlow earrings. On the morning of the event, Dry Bar helped me create the perfect waves to amp up my look for the evening. I finished by doing my own makeup, keeping the look natural and soft with pinks that would complement my dress. It was important to be chic yet comfortable for a long night of Emmy fun!" — Stephanie Samson, Special Projects Editor, LA Office

For me, the biggest surprise of last week’s Emmys didn’t happen onstage. More shocking than Tracy Morgan passing out, or Mad Men’s unexpected shutout was how radiant Lucy Liu looked in her flawlessly contoured column. Since my plans don’t include walking the red carpet, I’d swap her style for Versace’s shorter number. My chainmail and satin dress may only be a fraction of her gown’s length, but this heavy metal mini would capture all of her glamour. Find out how to get Lucy Liu’s sparkle!
