Last year, when Emma Stone stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet in Lanvin, one thought ran through my mind: “I need that belt!” The eagle-embellished cincher was the definite standout on the actress’s two-tone column, but the design would have just as much impact with more casual ensembles. So when I spied the label’s latest wild thing, I fell in love all over again. The crystal-studded tiger buckle is just as fierce as Ms. Stone’s style and will arrive just in time for me to wear (sans gown) the evening of the 2013 Golden Globes! Get the scoop on Lanvin’s belt!

I’m not usually one to wear sparkle, but if anyone can rip me from my comfort zone it’s Viktor & Rolf. The theatrical design duo would certainly add drama to my wardrobe with a Swarovski crystal-studded metallic leather belt. No extra accessories required—which is good, because this is quite enough shimmer for me!

When it comes to fashion, I believe if one is good, two is better. That’s why I’m digging this brass and leather belt. Twice the silhouette-defining power and a double dose of color will make punctuating even the most basic dress a total cinch. Click here to see who designed this colorblock cincher!

After my annual Thanksgiving feast I like to joke that it would take the Jaws of Life to pry me from my jeans. Maybe what I really need is a mechanism to keep me in them. This industrial metal belt would definitely do the trick! Bonus: this tough little waist-cincher works with everything from prints to denim to (especially) slimming black. Click here to see who designed this modern accessory!

Long considered an after-thought accessory, belts made a big comeback on the spring runways. This waistband exemplifies Veronica Etro’s latest collection for her family’s namesake brand. Ethnic print? Check. Tribal-inspired hardware? Check. Earthy textures? Check. Whether you wear it to show off your silhouette in a maxi dress, add a bit of flair to white jeans or polish off the look of wide leg trousers, it’ll make getting ready for any urban safari a total cinch.

This is not a fanny pack. Using exotic black and white alligator skin, Sang A Im-Propp designed a chic double wave clutch, slipped it onto a figure-flattering sash and dubbed her luxe creation the “belt bag.” Forget about blending in with the tourists in Times Square, this hands-free accessory would make you a stand out in even the most fashionable crowd.

From baileyandhanna:

If money were no object I’d buy (among many things) an Alaia perforated leather waist belt. It’s a real statement waist-cincher thanks to scalloped trims, a ribbed panel and pewter buckle—it even comes in its very own signature brown box. This decorative belt will cost you a monthly mortgage payment, but in the fantasy world of if-money-were-no-object this belt would be a necessity!

Inspired by a country-club upbringing and her experience on the creative team at Marc by Marc Jacobs, accessories designer Meredith German has described her aesthetic as “uptown awkward.” A case in point is this mixed media belt, which combines luxe python, bright patent leather and silver hardware. An absolute essential should you wish to stage a Madison Avenue rebellion.

We all know: Put on a belt to accentuate your waist. But if you really want to highlight your midsection, adorn it with one of these Vionnet numbers. Can’t get enough of that giant bow.
